Summer 2019 and Beyond...
I just returned from beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming where I directed an outdoor production of As You Like It at Off Square Theatre / Thin Air Shakespeare. This was my fifth summer in the Tetons…last year I directed Macbeth. And I’ll be back next summer to direct Richard III. Jackson Hole and Off Square Theatre has become a second home to me and I am eternally grateful to the artistic staff and their commitment to professional theatre in the Tetons. I am incredibly fortunate to have their support not just of the artistic choices but also of the casting decisions. Once again, it was my pleasure to continue the tradition of casting Los Angeles-based AEA actors including former graduates of the USC MFA Acting Program. This year we also had the pleasure of welcoming a Denver-based actor and, of course, local actors new to the Off Square family.
This fall I will be directing intimacy and violence for Punkplay by Gregory S. Moss and produced by Circle X Theatre in Los Angeles. It is being co-directed by Lisa Dring and Matt Bretz. I am excited to join the creative team and work with the actors on challenging physical material.
And, finally (for the moment, anyways), I am performing in a staged reading of lost tribes written and directed by Aaron Henne for Theatre Dybbuk. The performance is part of the LA MADE series sponsored by the LA Public Library and will take place on August 18 @ 2pm in the mark taer Auditorium of the Central Library in downtown LA.
”Inspired by the stories of the lost tribes of Israel, theatre dybbuk presents a full-length theatrical work, rich in movement, original music, and lyrical language that relates ancient mythological and tribal narratives to contemporary questions of integration, appropriation, and belonging.”
That’s all for now! I have a few big projects lined up but can’t say much about them just yet…so stay tuned!
